Simple Future tense

This week (Week 7), we are going....

Simple Future with Will

Pattern:   will + base verb

Very Important:
They ALL use will
I will eat
You will eat
He will eat
She will eat
It will eat
We will eat
They will eat

CONTRACTIONS:
I'll
You'll
He'll
She'll
It'll
We'll
They'll

Examples:
They will eat lunch at 12 o'clock.  
I'll help you!
He'll do his homework after he eats dinner.

Use: Use will + base verb when you are deciding future plans right at this moment.
Examples
  • A: Do you want to go to the movies later?
    B: Sure, I'll go!
 
  • She will do whatever her mother tells her to do.
 
  • When you enter the room on Monday, you'll see a sign-up sheet on the table.

NEGATIVE:
will not = won't

I won't be at the party later.

Simple Future with Be Going To

Pattern: be going to + base verb
​

Use:  Use be going to + base verb when plans have already been made in advance.
Use it for plans and intentions!

Very Important:

I am going to eat
You 
are going to eat
He is going to eat
She is going to eat
It is going to eat

We are going to eat
They are going to eat


CONTRACTIONS:
I'm
You're
He's
She's
It's 

We're
They're

Examples:
  • He's going to study all night for his test.
  • They're going to go to Disneyland next spring.
  • I am definitely going to call you tomorrow.


NEGATIVE:
I'm not going to
You're not going to        or         you aren't going to
He's not going to       or         he isn't going to
She's not going to       or         she isn't going to
It's not going to       or         it isn't going to
We're not going to       or         we aren't going to
They're not going to       or         they aren't going to
